• Blahoslovenja (blessing) – It’s a short tradition before the ceremony when a couple asks both parents for the blessing to start a family.
• Korovai (wedding bread) – baked with symbols of fertility.
• Rushnyk (embroidered towel) – the couple stands on it during the ceremony.
• The crowning ceremony – a special church ritual where crowns are held over the heads of the newlywed couple.
• Games like “stealing the bride” – a tradition of “stealing” the bride from the wedding ceremony to see what the groom will do.
• Hirko shouting – Hirko means “bitter,” and it indicates that the bride and groom had to kiss as a symbol that their life will be sweet.

Note: The Ukrainian ring finger is on the right hand, not the left. So if you are walking across the street in Ukraine and think that all the girls are unmarried, think twice.

Unfortunately, scams exist. In 2023, the FTC showed that users lost $1.4B to romance scams. Sure thing, not all of those happened in Ukraine, but you always need to be cautious. Here are some golden rules:
