Where To Find a Chinese Bride

There are two main options you have—you can meet mail order brides on an online dating site, or you can meet them offline. Of course, that’s not all, and there are other options, too. For example, you can also meet them through marriage agencies—but these other options are either too expensive or not popular at all, and the majority of men who marry Chinese women meet them on a dating app or offline.
Let’s talk about these options.
Online
Online dating is probably the best and most convenient option you have. It’s also the most affordable one—while the marriage tours cost around $5,000 and a trip to China costs at least $2,500 for 1 week, a month on a dating site would only cost you around $200 or $250. And it’s also about the dating pool, of course. The best dating websites offer to meet at least a few thousand mail order brides, so you will have an incredibly wide choice if you go online.
Offline
Offline dating might be a great choice, too. Some people prefer this option because it allows one to see if there’s chemistry and a “spark” with a person, and it’s harder to see it when you date someone online. There are a lot of reasons why offline dating is worth trying, too, and it’s interesting that you do not even need to go to China to meet real Chinese brides.
You can meet them in the United States, too!
The First Option Is To Meet Them In New York
It’s the #1 city in the US with the most Chinese population (it’s around 865,000). If you’re going to New York, you just can’t miss the Flushing neighborhood, which has a very large Asian American population (the majority of whom are of Chinese and Korean descent). You can just walk down Flushing’s Chinatown or one of those parks like Corona Park and approach women, the chances are very high that you’ll find a lot of Chinese ladies there. Manhattan’s Chinatown is definitely worth a visit, too, because it’s the place with the highest concentration of Chinese people in the United States (66% of the Chinatown’s residents are Asian). Bars like Nurse Bettie and Rooftop 93, clubs like Sae Ron Night and The Library, all these places are great for meeting local Chinese residents. Or just walk down Mott Street and approach women there, you won’t be disappointed.
Or, You Can Meet Them In China
Beijing, for example, is the best Chinese city for finding love, according to locals, with a success rate of 69%.
- You’ll definitely enjoy the nightlife in Beijing quarters as a foreigner—the Sanlitun district is extremely popular among both expats and locals, and it’s highly recommended to pay attention to such bars and clubs as Zhao Dai, Pillbox, and ByeByeDisco.
- National parks such as Behai Park and Olympic Forest Park would also work great, but only if you speak some Chinese—in this case, you would be able to approach lots of locals there.
- You can also meet them through various activities like hiking clubs, cooking classes, and cultural events. Chinese women typically don’t want to start a relationship in a bar or in a nightclub, the process is typically slower, and social activities would be a great option to build a relationship with a local. But it’s pretty time-consuming, of course, and if you’re going to focus on this option, you’ll need more time than 1 or 2 weeks.
If you don’t want to go to China, think of visiting Taiwan. Taiwanese women are generally not as interested in dating foreign men as women from the mainland China, but it’s still not impossible—you can go to Taipei and visit language exchange groups, social events, you can simply visit shopping areas like Muji Square or go to the Xinyi district which has a great nightlife and try to approach locals there.

How to Get a Chinese Bride Or Husband

Online dating is not just more affordable than any offline option; it’s also much more convenient and much faster. Even if you live in New York, you’ll need to go to certain areas to meet Chinese women, and if you want to date them in China, you’ll need to spend a lot of time there. Online dating, in turn, is extremely simple: you just sign up on a dating app, and that’s all; you can start chatting with women right after that.
Let’s talk about how to meet them online.
Online
- Choose a dating app. Read the reviews very carefully, that’s the most important part of the process. You’ll need to choose a trustworthy and legit dating website with a good reputation and with real success stories, not just one of those fake dating apps with fake profiles and bots.
- Sign up. The registration is always free and you’ll only need your email address to join a dating site in most cases. Typically, it only takes 1-2 minutes to sign up.
- Answer all the questions. You’ll be asked several questions about your personality and about your perfect partner during the registration, and it’s not recommended to skip those questions. Answer all of them and you’ll get the best matches!
- Upload a profile photo. It should be a recent picture, of course, and it would be great if you upload a smiling photo—these photos work much better according to some studies.
- Buy some credits or a premium subscription. Even if it’s a free dating app, premium profiles always get the best matches.
Dating Profile Tips
- Upload more than 1 photo. Contrary to a popular stereotype, the number of photos on an online dating profile doesn’t influence perceived attraction, but with more than 1 photo, you’ll have more chances to tell a story. Like, you can upload a photo that shows your hobby or your latest trips, that’s how you will show women that you are an interesting person and give them a “hook” they’ll use to start communication.
- Do not write a long and boring profile bio. Make it short and interesting; you don’t need to tell the story of your life there, you just need to catch their attention. And use simple English, please, because not all the Chinese brides on a dating app are fluent English speakers. This also applies to the conversation with them, not only to your profile.
- No group photos! Group photos just don’t work; no one wants to decipher which person in the picture is actually you.
Conversation Starters
Starting a chat in a new language can feel awkward, but don’t overthink it — even a simple line can open the door.
- 你最喜欢的演员/歌手/明星是谁 — Who’s your favorite actor/singer/celebrity?
- 你休息的时候喜欢做什么 — What do you like to do in your free time?
- 你的眼睛真好看 — Your eyes are so pretty!
You don’t need perfect grammar or a rehearsed speech — just a smile (or emoji) and a little curiosity. Keep it light, keep it real, and most importantly, listen as much as you talk. That’s how real connections start.
Success Stories

Oliver and Mei, Shanghai
I met Mei on a dating app in 2023. I’ve never thought that mail order brides were a real thing, actually, and I just wanted to relax there and chat with beautiful girls. But when I met Mei, I understood that they are actually real women who are really interested in meeting a foreign man. So I asked her out just 2 months after we started chatting online, and she agreed! I spent 3 weeks in Shanghai and left China, but the next time I visited her, I got a diamond ring with me. I did my research and found a perfect place for proposing—it’s Hangzhou city, and it has an incredibly beautiful West Lake, so I invited Mei on a trip and proposed to her there at sunrise. And she said yes!
Steven and Ying Yue, Beijing
Our love story began on a dating site, too. We met in 2024, and she texted me first, and to be honest, I thought something was wrong with it! I didn’t even have a profile picture and still got a lot of messages from girls, how could that be possible? But it turns out it’s just an Asian online dating thing; they often text men first, so there’s nothing suspicious about it. We chatted for a while—I don’t know exactly, but it was probably 4 or 5 months—and only after that, I decided to meet her in person. So our first date was not so long ago, we spent a week together in Beijing and visited lots of cool places and clubs… And after that, I had to return to the United States. But we’re still together, we’re planning our second date week right now, and I’m sure it’s going to be even more pleasant!
Chinese Bride Price

So first of all, you’ll need to pay for online dating. Most dating apps today have a credit-based system, which means you can control your spending, but for most users, it’s around $200-$250 per month. Let’s take SakuraDate, one of the most popular Chinese dating apps, as an example.
- 1 credit on this dating site costs $0.2
- 1 minute of live chat costs 2 credits or $0.4
- Sending 1 photo costs 10 credits or $2
- Typically, men spend around 15-20 minutes per day chatting
- 15 minutes of live chat cost $6, 20 minutes of live chat cost $8
- This means you’ll pay $180-$240 for 30 days of chatting
- And you’ll probably want to send at least 5-10 photos, which would cost you $10-$20
- So the total cost should be around $190-$260
Now, what about offline dating? If you’re going to date them in China, you’ll need to spend at least 1 week there. Let’s see how much you’ll pay for a 1-week trip to Beijing:
- Flight from NYC to Beijing — $1,000
- Hotel room — $20/day to $50 to day for a cheap hotel, $150-$350 for a week
- Transportation — around $100 for a week
- Entertainment — $500 for a week
- Food — $300
- Dates — $200-$500 for 7 dates
- Gifts — $100-$200
- Total — $2,350-$2,950
You will also need to pay for the visa for your bride. If it’s a K-1 visa, which is pretty popular for Chinese residents (341 of Chinese citizens entered the US in 2023 on a K-1 visa), you’ll need to pay around $2,380 for the visa and for the green card.
So, the total cost of a Chinese mail order bride is:
- $250 for online dating
- $2,600 for a trip to China
- $2,400 for the K-1 visa
- Total — $5,250
But this doesn’t mean that you can just get your money and go there to buy a bride, no, that’s how it works. You’ll need to date your Chinese mail order bride, to impress her, and to make her fall for you in order to succeed—and if you want to make it work, you need to learn about the cultural differences first. Let’s talk about them.

Family, Culture, Religion

What is a typical Chinese family? Are Chinese women educated? Are they religious? Are they really so old-fashioned and traditional? Read this and you’ll find all the answers to your questions.
Chinese Statistics
- 51% of the students in China are female, which means that stereotype about uneducated Chinese women is not true at all—they are educated, they are ambitious, and they are not about early marriage anymore. It’s very interesting that despite the societal pressure, only 2.8% of young Chinese women in their early 20s got married before 18 so the tradition of early marriage is almost non-existent in China anymore (if we’re not talking about rural areas, of course).
- Even though Chinese women have higher education and boast of many career ambitions, their role in the family is more traditional than one could expect. Thus, they spend 15.3% of their time on domestic work, and it’s almost 3x more than Chinese men (5.9% of their time).
- China today is not as conservative regarding women’s rights as it was a few decades ago. There are still problems with gender equality, of course, but around 26% of parliamentary seats in the country are held by women, which shows that the political influence of Chinese women is growing.
- As for the traditional values and views on gender roles, it’s very simple and the pattern is similar for most Asian countries, not only for China: those who received higher education hold less traditional attitudes toward gender roles, those who know at least one foreign language hold less traditional attitudes, as well as those who live in urban areas. So, a woman with a higher education from Beijing who knows English would be much less “traditional” than an uneducated woman from a rural area who doesn’t know English.
The Typical Household Family In Chinese
China has been well-known for its multi-generational households, but the average size of a household is declining in this country right now. In 1990, for example, the average household size was 3.96 people, and in 2025, it’s only 2.62 people, which can be explained by the consequences of the one-child policy and societal norms that are slowly shifting.
One-couple households are also becoming more and more popular; there’s a clear shift from two-generation nuclear families.
And there’s that pattern again—two-generation nuclear families are much more common in rural areas than in big cities (60% vs 40%). The number of three-generation households is increasing in rural areas but decreasing in big cities.
Religion
Although the government recognizes 5 religions (Buddhism, Taoism, Catholicism, Protestantism, and Islam), China is still an atheist state, and only 1 in 10 Chinese residents formally identify with a religion. 47% of them are convinced atheists, and 30% of them are “not religious”, so religion doesn’t really affect their views on relationships and family roles.
However, their cultural values are heavily influenced by Confucianism, which is technically not a religion but more like a philosophy (there are no priests or churches in Confucianism). Confucian values include humanity, wisdom, loyalty, modesty, and trust. This philosophy advocates family harmony, and one of the main concepts of Confucianism is family-centeredness.
Is Gay Marriage Illegal In China?
China does not recognize same sex marriages. At the same time, the current Penal Code of China doesn’t prohibit consensual sexual acts between people of the same sex. So, same-sex couples can date, but they can’t marry or adopt a child in China.
Chinese Dating Culture

Before you start dating a Chinese bride, you just have to read the following text. Of course, you can skip it, but we are sure it’ll be very useful—there, we’ll explain how to date them successfully, how to talk to them, and how to flirt with them.
What Are Chinese Women Like?
- Chinese women are pretty family-centered. They are not as conservative as their grandmothers, of course, and they tend to be more educated and career-minded than 20 or 30 years ago, but still, family-centeredness is one of the most important concepts in their culture.
- They are ambitious and hard-working. Don’t expect your Chinese wife to be a stay-at-home wife or mother, that’s not how it works in modern China.
- They have serious intentions. There is no such thing as friends with benefits or no-strings-attached relationships in China. Well, it’s not like such relationship types are non-existent at all, they are just very rare in this country, so if you want to date local women, you should be serious about it.
How to Date Chinese Woman
- Remember that they don’t go Dutch in China. It’s always a man who pays for the date; that’s an important part of their dating etiquette.
- Compliments always work; there can’t be too many compliments because they love them in China. Scroll down and you’ll find some really cute phrases that will help you impress any Chinese girl!
- You will probably meet her parents very soon. If a Chinese woman invites you to a family dinner, it means she has serious intentions and wants something more than just dating. Of course, you’ll have to do your best to make a great impression on her parents. This means, in particular, that you’ll have to show them you can provide for a family.
How To Talk To Chinese Women
- Pay attention to your Chinese partner’s mood and state. Chinese people think that foreigners treat their women with more respect, and that’s one of the most common reasons why they become mail brides, by the way. So you’ll need to be respectful to impress them.
- No stereotypes. Don’t expect them to be conservative and outdated, don’t expect them to be shy and obedient, and so on.
- Learn Chinese. They speak English, yes, but they are not fluent English speakers, obviously. If you learn Mandarin, it’ll be easier for you to communicate, you’ll show that you have very serious plans, and you will have some fun time on the date because all foreign girls love it when a man tries to speak their language, and Chinese women are not an exception.
Dating Customs
Every culture has its own dating rhythm, and in China, it’s less about flashy gestures and more about how you make her feel. Understanding these subtle expectations can make or break your chances.
- They love gifts. Flowers, little cute gifts, toys, even snacks, everything would work perfectly with them.
- They don’t like it when men try too hard to impress them, let alone to impress them with money. You shouldn’t try to impress them with your home or car; that doesn’t work with Chinese women.
- They want anquangan, the “feeling of security”. This can be explained as the “feeling that you won’t cheat on her”, the “feeling that you can provide for the family”, or the “feeling that you can protect her”. So being confident, trustworthy, and loyal is very important in a relationship with a Chinese girl.
Chinese dating culture values sincerity over showiness. If you’re honest, loyal, and take the time to build trust, you’re already way ahead. Gifts are sweet, but showing her she’s safe with you? That’s priceless.
Is Kissing In Public OK In Chinese?
Well, it’s not forbidden legally, but culturally, in some places, it’s still taboo. This doesn’t apply to big cities, of course, nobody will care if you kiss your girlfriend or wife on the street or Beijing or Shanghai.
How to Flirt With Chinese Girls
- I enjoy being with you — 我喜欢和你在一起
- You’re my sunshine — 你是我的阳光
- I’m captivated by you — 我被你迷住了
- You make my heart beat faster — 你让我心跳加速
- I want to spend the rest of my life with you — 我想和你共度余生
Who Pays For The Date
It’s always a man who pays for the date, be it a casual coffee date or a dinner in a fancy restaurant. However, this only applies to first dates and the longer you’re in a relationship, the easier it will be to split the bill.
Chinese Marriage And Wedding Traditions

Weddings in China are about two families, centuries of tradition, and lots of senseful details. From lucky colors to symbolic rituals, every step is rooted in the belief that harmony and happiness can be planned.
- Guo Da Li represents the process when the groom presents betrothal gifts to the wife’s parents, including gold jewelry, alcohol, tea, and so on. These gifts symbolize prosperity, and usually, the parents return half of the betrothal gifts to the newly created family.
- The wedding date is extremely important in China because when two families merge, they must do it at an auspicious date in order to be blessed with happiness and prosperity.
- The invitations for the wedding are usually red with gold letters.
- The marriage bed should also be dressed in red beddings, and there must be dried fruits and nuts on it.
- The bride’s hair must be combed 4 times because each comb means a blessing (the first one stands for long-lasting marriage, the second one for harmonious union, and so on).
- The guests will give the groom and the bride red envelopes with money.
Chinese weddings are a beautiful blend of symbolism, family honor, and good fortune. If you ever find yourself part of one, pay attention to the little traditions, because in Chinese culture, the smallest things carry the biggest blessings.
Chinese Dating Scams
Americans lose hundreds of millions of dollars every year to romance scams—in 2024, for example, they lost almost $700,000,000. International dating websites are a very popular place among romance scammers, unfortunately. Here’s a short explanation of what types of scams you may face and how to not losing your money to them.
Type #1: When a Scammer Asks You For Money. It’s very simple: the scammer uploads fake photos, creates a fake profile, and gains the trust of the potential victims. Then, the scammer starts asking the victims for money. They have lots of stories to tell, but typically, it’s about paying for medical bills or about paying for the visa.
- What to do? Block and report the profile of the person who asks you for money. Do not send them money, obviously.
Type #2: When a Scammer Steals Your Financial Information. These scammers may either use so-called “social engineering” to get your credit card number, or they may simply send you a link to the online store where you can buy something, for example, a gift or a bouquet. You enter your credit card number and CVC/CVV code there, and then, you lose your money.
- What to do? Never enter your credit card or PayPal information on websites sent to you by “mail order brides”. Block and report instead.
Type #3: Blackmail. These scammers act like real brides, too—you may think you’re building a relationship with a real woman and even exchange various pictures and videos, and then you get an email saying that you must pay 1 BTC if you don’t want your videos to be leaked.
- What to do? Do not send such videos until you meet the woman in person. Or at least don’t show your face in these videos.
Final Word
Chinese women are known for being loyal, family-oriented, and thoughtful partners — qualities that make them truly special in long-term relationships. A lot of these women use international dating sites to meet someone genuine. Once you sign up on a trusted site, it won’t take long to start meaningful conversations and see where the chemistry leads!
